Upon the recommendation of JODIC Board of Directors, the Cabinet decided to raise the coverage limit of insured deposits from JD10.000 to JD50.000 to be effective as of January 1st ,2011. Upon this change, the percentage of fully insured depositors at member banks increased to reach approximately 98%, and the coverage limit to the average deposit size came to 6.1 multiples compared to 2.1 under the previous coverage limit. Furthermore the coverage limit to per capita GDP rose to 16 times compared to 3.2 times previously.
