Jordan Deposit Insurance Corporation (JODIC) hosted the delegation of the Iraqi Company for Deposit Insurance headed by Mr. Abbas Shihab Ahmed / Chairman of the Board of Directors during the period 13-14 October 2021, in line with endeavors of enhancing collaboration with the Deposit Insurance Organizations in the Middle East and North Africa region in order to exchange expertise and knowledge in the field of deposit insurance.

During the visit, the delegation learned more about JODIC’s business nature, its amended Law, regulations, and its effective regional and international role since JODIC is a founding member of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) and currently is a member in the Middle East and North Africa Regional Committee (MENA), the Member Relations Council Committee (MRC), as well as the Core Principles and Research Council Committee (CPRC) of the IADI.

On the 2nd day of the visit, the Corporation represented by H.E. Mr. Mu'taz I. Barbour, the Director General of JODIC, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Iraqi Company for Deposit Insurance’s representative, Mr. Waleed Aidi Abdulnabi, the CEO. The MOU aims at strengthening cooperation between JODIC and the Iraqi Company for Deposit Insurance in addition to exchanging knowledge and expertise in various areas of the deposit insurance industry that ultimately contribute to the stability of the banking sector in both countries.
